Since I have a knack for not writing anything for far too long on this thing, I’m going to try at least linking to my favorite Flickr finds on a regular basis. Maybe that will get me into the routine of posting my own pics too. And who knows, someday I might graduate to honest to goodness whole words…
Or syllables at least…
Letters?
One step at a time… breathe… just one small step at a time.

I finally went to Trader Joe’s today. Hadn’t been since it opened a few months ago. Huge mistake. The place isn’t as large as I’d like but it’s food heaven at amazing prices. Addicted to carrot juice? 4 bucks and change! That’s a 3rd less than anywhere else in the city. Want some goat cheese on that slice of pizza? Half the price of Fairway… And they had been the lowest price I’d found so far. Want to fill your freezer with potstickers but don’t want to spend all the time and mess it takes to follow Alton Brown’s recipe? TJ has ‘em for the same price as the bulk dumpling shop I go to in Chinatown but at much better quality. I picked up a bag of shrimp and a bag of pork, but for my Kosher keeping friends out there they have vegetable too…
Well at least now I know what my next target with a camera is. I’ll go back and post the proof here of the too good to be true selection and prices.

One more former Democrat speaks truth to power:
I just got a phone call from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, asking for a donation. When I tried to calmly and politely explain that I’m no longer associating myself with the Democrats because they “don’t consider Joe Lieberman a Democrat anymore,†the caller interrupted me and said, “Well, that’s true. He’s not a Democrat. He’s been acting like a Republican.†I responded that “that’s a distortion of his record†and briefly elaborated on why Lieberman is by no means a Republican. The caller again disagreed with me, saying, “Well, if you look at the way he’s been acting for the last few months…†I replied, “See, that just isn’t true, and this is precisely the problem. If the Democrats can’t find room in their party for someone who agrees with them 90 percent of the time, but disagrees on an issue of conscience, then there’s no room for me in the party,†or words to that effect. I proceeded to explain that I feel the Democrats are no longer the “big-tent party†that they once were, but instead are “intolerant of dissenting views†like Lieberman’s. “I might still vote for the Democrat in my district if I think he’s the better candidate,†I said, “but I’m not interested in donating any money to the party.†And then, just as I was in the process of suggesting that he take my name off the DCCC’s list, so as to avoid wasting either of our time in the future, the caller — without saying a word — simply hung up on me.
How long will it take until a large majority of Americans decide the Democratic party has become the home of anti-democratic, illiberal, and intolerant people?

I don’t have any pics of the place itself yet. Haven’t had my camera on me whenever I’ve gone in. Yes, yes, I know I should always have a camera on me. But I gave away my old compact camera and haven’t gotten a new one yet. So for now I just have the bulkier one and it just doesn’t work for me to be carrying that around everywhere I go. At some point in the next few weeks I plan on getting this to fix this problem of me not being a slave to a camera 24/7. I for one welcome my new camera overlord.
Anyway, enough rambling. This post was supposed to be about bald men and chocolate. As exhibit B of the Israeli invasion of NYC I present to you Max Brenner Chocolate Bar, aka. Chocolate by the Bald Man. The chocolate itself is addictive. And that’s saying a lot since I’m not a person that likes anything other than white chocolate really, and the occasional mild milk chocolate if and only if it comes with caramel or something of the sort. I know, according to almost everyone white chocolate doesn’t count and my not liking dark chocolate means I’m not even a person. Some weird non-chocolate liking shadow of a person maybe…
Hmm… so where was I…? Right! Chocolate. Very yummy chocolate:

Haven’t written here in a few weeks. I’ve been way too busy with the apartment hunt, preparing to move, the usual summer retooling and upgrading, and all the boozing with creative young capitalists, globe trotters, world conquerors, and aspiring lawyers (more like recent bar exam survivors running like mad away from law and into the business world). No need to name names. You all know who you are.
So am I going to have any time to post here now? Don’t know. My guess is I’ll have a lot more time once the new apt. is taken care of. In the meantime have a pic taken a few seconds ago:

It’s Aroma. A new Israeli cafe on Houston and Greene (in NYC). Part of a recent Israeli business invasion I couldn’t be happier about.
I’ll be here for a few more hours, since I have a ton of work to get done. Maybe I’ll find some time to post more while I’m at it.
